As I learned in International Relations 101 (in the 60′s), the definition of Realpolitik is, a nation's foreign policy decisions being driven by its own self-interest (see “Man, the State and War, Ken Waltz). What is their general argument that they are making now about Israel? Well, all that little narative of WCN's sounds a lot like Hobbes' highly reductionist description of human nature to me, as well as his proposed solution to man's natural state of perpetual war: the social contract.
